Research Interests:

I have three main streams of research with multiple projects. They are;

  • Young People's Online Behaviour and its impact on Education, Mental Well-being and Social Networking
    Young people today ‘live’ much of their life surrounded by technology. Most of them spend what seem to be inordinate hours online. Yet our understanding of online behaviour is only starting to take shape. This is not surprising as technology, online content and applications are shifting at a phenomenal speed. Hence, I am interested in studying areas related to young people's online behaviour and how it may impact on education, mental well-being and also their patterns of social networking
  • Information Needs and Health Informatics
    Health informatics and information technology in healthcare have moved beyond the development of software for practitioners in an effort to share information. The focus has shifted to the users, that is the patients, the informal carers, professional carers and the wider community through looking at access to relevant information when it is needed. Hence, the study of information needs is of particular interest in the development of health informatics systems (and other user centred systems).
  • Information Systems Security Culture and Management
    Information systems security refers to more that the prevention of hacking. it is generally recognised that security can have direct impacts on the organisation's performance, its people, data, technology and assets. Hence, an integrated strategic approach to managing IS security is needed and this can only be done when embedded in management practice.

I also have minor research interests in the Relationship between Culture and Information Systems, Teaching and Learning across Cultures and Cultural Competencies.
