I am an independent researcher residing in Singapore. In the recent past I have worked with the Interaction Design Group in the Department of Information Systems at the University of Melbourne and the Computing Department at Lancaster University. I mainly conduct ethnographic studies with a focus on use, technology issues and (possible) design.

I am interested in the use and design of everyday technologies and how they are placed in people's lives to support various forms of communication, the process of these technologies 'becoming mundane' and the new forms of awareness and interaction they sustain. Particular projects I have worked on under this research theme are:

• mundane technologies and social interaction (funded by Microsoft Research 2007-9, Xerox Research Europe 2007-9);
• 'reflexive technologies' and personal translucence (funded by Australian National Medical Research Council 2006-9, Nokia Research 2006-7).
• domestic media technologies (funded by British Broadcasting Corporation Research & Development 2009-10)
